About Son Candela 

 

The SON CANDELA project was born when some Latin-American musicians meet in Oslo in 2009, Carlitos Kako Aranguiz (Chile) on the Cuban tres guitar, Luis Sucari (Peru)

on the baby bass, Vicente Manet (Cuba) in the vocals , Magela Herrera (Cuba) on the flute and Eduardo Cedeño (Cuba) on the congas.

The five friends, strongly feeling the emotions, the legacy of their Latin culture, have kept their musical heart in Latin America. They therefore decided to create Son Candela salsa orchestra, to give high salsa entertainment to the people and salsa lovers from Norway.

 
The group was named Son Candela because we did not want to  forget the roots of todays salsa music that one day was born with the cuban SON and many other afro cuban rhythms, CANDELA its also the perfect word to describe the passion and fire we want to share and transmit to salsa dancers, listeners and all public by performing this music. Son Candela has a very fresh repertoire especially made for salsa dancers and listeners. They plays cuban salsa/timba and salsa from puerto rico, colombia, venezuela, panama, just to make salsa dancers happy by giving out variety in all salsa styles. 

 

Son Candela, thanks to its great live performances, has rapidly become popular and  the most interesting new act in high quality Latin music, starring at the most important jazz, Latin and world music festivals and Salsa Congresses like Kongsberg Jazz Festival, Cosmopolite Scene, Drammen Scene, St Croix huset and many others.
